Swanborough Tump

History right at your doorstep!

When you arrive at Cocklebury Farm you are greeted by the Swanborough Tump, a stone monument and plaque that commemorates the meeting between King Alfred the Great and his brother before battling the Danes in A.D. 871.

Here, the brothers drew up their wills, promising to provide lands for their children if the worst was to occur.
