A Hercules plane or (if you’re feeling official!) a ‘Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules’, is a military transport aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force. They are used to support humanitarian and military missions globally, such as evacuations from warzones.
The RAF have been flying these Hercs over our farm to practice manoeuvres for as long as we can remember and seeing them has become a part of everyday farm life – But earlier this year, after nearly 6 decades of service, the Hercs took their retirement flight over Salisbury plain. The magnificent sight will definitely be missed by all here at Cocklebury!
We do work with the air ambulance (who have permission to train over our fields), and military helicopters regularly fly over, so no shortage of epic air vehicle spotting. But for now, farewell Hercs, you will be missed!
