Don’t recognise him from last winter?
The appearance of roe deer changes throughout the year – they have bright red-brown fur in summer, fading to a duller shade of brown in winter!
Roe have black noses and white chins. The males (bucks) also have small antlers which are shed and re-grown each year!
Sometimes mistaken for dogs (!) muntjac are small and stocky, weighing around just 18kg at full size!
Introduced from China at the start of the 20th century, Muntjac have thrived in the South West!
